Thursday evening May 30th we’ll host 2 big events, come to both, come to either, come celebrate with us! First off it’s the inaugural Heart of the Finger Lakes: Tasting & Tapas Showcase bringing together some of the area’s finest food & beverage producers to showoff their creations on the streets of Downtown Ithaca.
Due to unfortunate events the Toots & the Maytals concert at The State Theatre is cancelled due to an injury. The show will be rescheduled for the fall. Dan Smalls Presents & The Ithaca Festival will announce immediately, likely within a week or so. The present plan is that all tickets will be honored for the fall show. Again if this changes stay tuned for more information regarding refunds or exchanges. We regret this postponement but we wish Toots a speedy recovery. Please stay tuned for further information. The Blind Spots will join the Friday night concert at the Farmers Market with The Sim Redmond Band.
We’ll present a stellar lineup of area chefs, restauranteurs, chocolatiers, winemakers, dairies, butchers, brewers, food trucks, and more offering tastes of creations they’ve crafted from locally grown & sourced ingredients! We applaud the efforts of the food & beverage artisans who nourish our community & help establish the Finger Lakes region as world-renowned for its agriculture & gourmet culinary arts. Local musical favorites, The Notorious String Busters & old-time heavy-hitters Rosie Newton, Lydia Garrison, & Oona Grady’s latest group Home Remedy will serenade guests & the full spread of Festival merchandise will be unveiled. Tastes & bites will be priced from 0-$4 & we encourage you to sample from a variety of vendors presenting wide diversity of offerings!

Toots & The Maytals Show Canceled, but Ithaca Festival Events Continue & The Blind Spots Play On
Due to very unfortunate events, the Toots & the Maytals concert scheduled for Thursday May 30th at the State Theater has been canceled. The Ithaca Festival’s Heart of the Finger Lakes Tasting & Tapas Showcase will still take place that evening hosting local bands Home Remedy and The Notorious String Busters on State St. Local favorites the Blind Spots, who were scheduled to open for Toots will be added to the bill for Friday night, joining The Sim Redmond Band at the Farmers Market Pavilion, tickets just $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
Toots & the Maytal’s management released this statement, “Toots & the Maytals’ Toots Hibbert is reluctantly canceling the balance of his US acoustic concert tour due to continuing medical issues stemming from a bottle throwing incident on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Riverrock Concert in Richmond, Virginia when he was struck in the head by a large vodka bottle thrown at him by an audience member while performing. The blow to his head necessitated his being rushed to a local hospital for initial evaluation and treatment. Since that time, Toots has sought additional medical treatment while trying to complete his tour given his medical condition. Toots appreciates all of the well wishes and support from his fans and looks forward to performing for them again soon.”
Due to a recent incident described above, the Toots & The Maytals Show will be rescheduled for the fall. Dan Smalls Presents & The Ithaca Festival will announce immediately, likely within a week or so. The present plan is that all tickets will be honored for the fall show. Again if this changes stay tuned for more information regarding refunds or exchanges. We regret this postponement but we wish Toots a speedy recovery and wish that folks would enjoy concerts in a respectful manner and never undertake actions such as what led to Toots’ injury. It’s about the experience for everyone! Please stay tuned for further information.
